Antonio Salieri is the highly respected court composed a hr of the Austrian Emperor Joseph II. He has led a highly disciplined life devoted to God and music written in his praise.

Enter Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A free-spirited 'vulgar' guy who in personality is an exact contrast to Antonio. But his music is the best that anyone has ever heard. Antonio considers it to be a gift of god.

He is unable to come to terms with the fact that God favored Mozart to him, when gifting the skill of music. He plans to take revenge for this.
