Chuck Noland is a globe-trotting executive of FedEx. He has to take a quick sortie between Christmas and New Year. And, that is when he intends to propose to his girl friend Kelly Frears.

However, the plane he's on gets lost in a storm with no radio contact. And, soon crashes killing everyone on board except Chuck.

When he wakes up in the morning. His lifeboat has landed him on a remote island. He somehow survives a few days, when it dawns upon him that it is too late now, and he may never be found.

Will he be able to survive? Will he get back to civilisation?
