John is a talented boy, but things take an unfortunate turn when his father passes away while he's still young. He sets out to become a 'somebody' in NewYork but ends up as just another face in the crowd. He meets Mary on a blind date, they click, they get married, and soon have two children. However, her daughter dies in a car accident. Still in grief, he gets angry at work and quits his job. After which he struggles to make ends meet and his life gradually falls apart.
