The setting is the late 1930s, early 1940s. Wladyslaw Szpilman plays Piano on the Polish radio and is a renowned Pianist in the country. The second world war starts and Poland is attacked by Germany. Szpilman is a Jew.
The movie is about how Szpilman manages to survive the war with the help of numerous people including a senior German Army Personnel while he loses everyone he knows - his family, friends, colleagues, love - everyone.
Rating: Green - a well made movie about the true story of Wladyslaw Szpilman. Gives you an idea what might happen to a celebrity living an affluent life in times of war.
