The Mauritanian: Can innocence guarantee freedom?
Mudbound: Black or White you will become brown!
Ronsel Jackson has just returned to his home in rural Mississippi after World War II. Still in the trauma of the war, things are complicated by the racism that is extant in the region and dominates all social interactions.
Jamie McAllan has also returned home, to the same place, from the World War. He too is in trauma, which has turned him into a drunkard.
The two bump into each other and strike a friendship unusual for the place.
Will they be able to help the black and white become one? Or will they be become a sacrifice to the social preferences?
Rating: Yellow - a well-made tale about life in the mid-twentieth century southern America. A racist hell, shown as such! Could have got a green, if it had a better pick up!
