Roger Murtaugh is a veteran police officer looking forward to his impending retirement. However, god doesn't will life to be easy for him - as he is paired with Martin Riggs, whose wife was killed sometime back - turning him suicidal.

Roger who is trying to live a peaceful last few days of duty, is repeatedly pulled into life-threatening situations by Martin.
